The 2000-year-old Ise Grand Shrine, known as "O-Ise-san," is deeply revered by locals. To promote Ise's charm and hospitality, a certification was introduced. This tour is led by a certified "O-Ise-san" taxi driver!
Departure
Tsukiyomi-no-miya Shrine, a Betsugu of the Outer Shrine, honors Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto, the moon deity and brother of Amaterasu Omikami. Situated in central Ise City, it offers a peaceful, tree-surrounded sanctuary amidst the bustling area, historically linked to agriculture.
Yamato-hime-no-miya Shrine, dedicated to Yamato-hime-no-mikoto, sits on Kurata-yama between the Inner and Outer Shrines. Known as the "Yamato-hime Cultural Forest," it features nearby museums and a library. Established in 1923, it is the newest Betsugu.
Tsukiyomi-no-miya Shrine, an Inner Shrine Betsugu, honors the moon deity Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto. It includes four Betsugu, visited in order: Tsukiyomi-no-miya, Tsukiyomi Aramitama-no-miya, Isanagi-no-miya, and Isanami-no-miya.
The Inner Shrine, or Kotaijingu, honors Amaterasu Omikami, the ancestral deity of the Imperial Family. Established 2000 years ago, it begins at Uji Bridge and features a sacred path, embodying Japan's "spiritual home."
