Try special local treats at one of Hawaii’s most traditional bakeries, famous for its soft and flavorful sweet bread. Sample a variety of island favorites, including taro and guava bread, malasadas, and other fresh-baked goods. It’s the perfect stop to enjoy a taste of authentic Hawaiian flavors.

Stop by a local gem featuring a rare black sand beach where endangered sea turtles often rest along the shoreline. Formed by ancient lava flows meeting the sea, Punaluʻu offers a striking contrast of jet-black sand and lush greenery. Take time to stroll the beach and take photos of this unique area.

See iconic sights within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, including the dramatic Kilauea Crater Lookout, steaming volcanic vents, the scenic Kilauea Iki Lookout, and the winding Chain of Craters Road. Walk through the Thurston Lava Tube and explore a landscape shaped by aeons of volcanic activity.

Enjoy a delicious dinner at Lava Rock Cafe, a cozy local spot offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. After a full day of adventure, sit back & relax with a freshly prepared meal featuring local flavors and island-inspired dishes. It’s the perfect way to unwind and reflect on the day’s highlights.

If volcanic activity is occurring, return to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park after dinner for an unforgettable experience. Watch as molten lava glows brilliantly against the night sky, creating a breathtaking natural display that highlights the raw power and beauty of the island’s volcanic landscape.

Observe stars and planets under the pristine night sky near Saddle Road, where the high elevation and minimal light pollution create ideal conditions for stargazing. Look up and discover constellations, planets, and celestial wonders in one of the world’s best locations for viewing the night sky.
