The capital of Okinawa, Naha is a convenient base from which to explore the rest of the island. Surrounding the restaurant-filled central Kokusai Street, Naha is also home to Shuri Castle, great food and pottery markets as well as remnants of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. With lots of tours and marine sports offering pick-ups around the city, Naha is a great location for those who want to experience a little bit of everything on Okinawa.

Onna is one of Okinawa’s popular resort destinations, right on the East China Sea. The blue water and white sand beaches make this area great for relaxing resorts like the Renaissance Okinawa Resort, the Rizzan Sea-Park Hotel, Sunmarina Hotel and the ANA InterContinental Manza Hotel & Resort. Onna’s coastline is a great place to see seascapes from Cape Manza and Cape Maeda, as well as offering great snorkeling and diving opportunities at the Blue Cave.

Just north of Naha, Chatan is popular with visitors looking to get out of Naha while still having good access to the rest of the island. Check out the shopping and eateries in Mihama American Village, or join the locals at Sunset and Araha beaches to relax and play in the calm seas. A popular spot for scuba divers and snorkelers, travelers often stay at the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort or the Beach Tower.
