Please come directly to each workshop.
In this experience, you’ll practice Tsuikin, a traditional Ryukyuan lacquerware decoration technique.
Note: Tsuikin is a unique lacquer art method developed and perfected in Ryukyu for decorating lacquerware.
On the thinly spread lacquer surface, sketch the design. Then, use a Tsuikin knife to make cuts along the sketched pattern.
Once the cuts are made, carefully cut out the pattern.
Attach the colored pattern to the item (coaster or accessory).
Finish by thoroughly rubbing with a glassing paper, and it’s complete!
Note: The lacquer applied to the item will dry and harden over several months. Once fully dried, the lacquer will adhere completely, ensuring it won’t peel off.
