Our tour guide, Joseph, was both informative and entertaining. Loved the personal insights as a native Bavarian and really set a great tone and flavor to the history. Really enjoyed visiting Oberammergau. Disappointed that we were only able to visit 2 castles, but the time constraints are understood. Unfortunately, a lot of the sightseeing during the drive can not be as appreciated from the "wrong" side of the bus.

Most of my photos are too large to upload, so I am only able to share a couple.

Our tour guides were fantastic! The scenery was perfect.
Online it said we would return to Munich at 8:30pm. We returned around 6:30pm. I would have preferred to have those two hours in one of the amazing places we visited. I felt rushed.

We had a great trip to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein! The bus was comfortable, and they sold hot and cold beverages onboard. We had plenty of time at each stop, and the guide told us interesting stories about Ludwig II and Bavaria during the trip. I will definitely recommend this trip if you go to Munich!

The day started off pretty early at 8.30am in the morning as the tour is packed to a tight schedule. The first stop was at Linderhof Castle where we got to take a few pictures quickly and were treated to the fountain being switched on before going into the Palace for our guided tour but as soon as it finished we literally had to go back to the coach which meant we didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked but the interior of the Palace is beautiful, but there is strictly no photography allowed.

The next stop on the trip was to the little village of Oberammergau which is famous for putting on the play "The Passion of Christ!" and at the top of one of the mountains you can see a cross. This is a quick 30 minute stopover to stretch your legs and buy souvenirs from the little shops before heading back to the coach and preparing for our remainder of the journey to Neuschwanstein Castle.

Along the way, it is very picturesque and scenic, as you gradually come towards the village of Fussen, you can see the castle if you are sitting on the left, and at first glance it takes your breath away. Once you arrive, you have the option to either walk to the top, catch a bus or ride a horse and carriage which is a lovely option if you prepare your time carefully. The tours inside the castle are set to a specific time so you have to give yourself enough time to get to the top of the castle in time for your tour.

The views at the top are stunning and there is a little platform ridge where you can take pictures of the castle. The inside of the castle itself is quite darkly decorated with dark coloured wood. The outside is literally the star of the show, you've never seen a castle, till you've seen Neuschwanstein, the outside is breathtakingly stunning. Absolutely beautiful.

The Marienbrucke bridge was closed for maintenance and cannot been seen until you are inside the castle. As you walk up to the castle, you can see signs how to get to the bridge but it is closed off. The guide we had said it should be reopened in November 2016 and that they close the bridge every 10 years for maintenance.

Overall this was a great trip and I would thoroughly recommend it, however if you want to spend a lot of time without rushing, you might need to hire a car or find someone who can take you so you can take your time as it is definitely a trip of a lifetime.

Great Tour Guide!

Reviewed by: Steven, 2015/05/18

Informative, funny, and helpful would be the words to describe our tour led by the guide Ursula. At the tour date, there was some confusion about which bus to ride, since the buses are separated by guide language spoken and it was unclear which bus was for English-speaking guide. But once we found the right bus, we've found the bus clean and comfortable. We were lucky to sit on the second row from the front upper deck, which gave us a great view of the front and around.

Soon our guide Ursula came on board and gave us an overview of München and landmarks. The bus was selling drinks, and we naturally assumed it would be overpriced, but we were pleasantly surprised at the decent price. Ursula gave us plenty of alerts for photo-ops for mountains, buildings, and other beautiful scenaris as well as cultural and historical back grounds. There was no pushy souvenir sales or herding people into a shop, but only informing of shopping opportunities and restaurant options.

Ursula was firm, clear, yet cool about reminding us of our time. We went through the tour of Linderhof, the town with Passion Play, and finally Neuschwanstein. Unfortunately, we were delayed before the castle (there is always this tourist with disregards for the time!), we were left with shorter than expected time at the castle. We opted to wait for horse carriage and it was my undoing; there was a HUGE group of elderly tourists waiting for the carriage, and we ended up missing our ticket entry time.

Fortunately we were able to change our entry time but had to rush the tour of the castle. We were running very close to the departure time and afraid we would end up being "that" tourist that delays the tour bus. Fortunately, running downhill was much faster and we made it on time. We wish we had extra 10-15 min to fully appreciate the castle but we still enjoyed the beautiful exterior & interior of the castle. All in all, we would highly recommend the tour, especially with Veltra discounts!

  • Courtyard for Linderhof

  • Schloss Neuschwanstein in a distance.. Waiting for that horse carriage!!!

Great experience

My girlfriend has been obsessed with this castle for a long time, she had already been before as a kid but wanted me to visit this amazing place with her.
She booked the tour through veltra, they had a great offer. I didn't think i would like it as much as i did as im not a big fan of museums. This was a totally different experience , seeing the castle from inside was beautiful and even though the weather was cold and wet it made the rocks and mountains around look stunning. The bus was so comfortable we slept all the way back to Munich.
I would recommend it to anyone who visits Germany, it gives you a great look of bavaria and is something different to do.

Very nice tour

It was a sunny Sunday. We were able to visit two castles with wonderful views.
Linderhof castle had very nice interior. the local guide explained everything very slowly and comprehensibly. Also, the tour bus guide's explanation was very easy to understand. Japanese audio guide was also very useful. At Neuschwanstein castle, the tour guide told us that we should go to Marien bridge first to take pictures before the tour inside of the castle, and informed us very well about the departure time etc.

Great one day tour

It was amazing tour including Neuschwanstein castle and Linderhof castle in one day!
We also made a stop at a small, beautiful town Oberammergau. I was very much satisfied with this tour!
The scenery of the Romantic Road was very beautiful on the way to both castles. The guide's explanation was very good and I've learned a lot. It is not easy to visit those 3 places on your own, so I highly recommend this tour!

The Neuschwanstein Castle of my dreams

Reviewed by: Anonymous, 2015/01/27

The place I wanted to go the most in Germany was the Neuschwanstein Castle.
It was better than what I expected.
There was a lot of free time and since they take you by bus to all the main places, it is very easy and there is no way you get lost.
The inside of the bus was also extremely comfortable.

Neuschwanstein and Linderhof

I was a little anxious since I was by myself, but I am very satisfied with this tour.
At first I thought about taking a public train and bus to go there, but considering the time and the price, I decided to book this tour. It was a good decision.

It would be better to bring your own lunch that you can have in the bus, because we did not have much extra time to have lunch.

The guide was very nice and spoke in easy to understand English. We exchange snacks and shared tips about good places in Munich, so it was fun.

Impressive

I have always wanted to visit Germany's Castle's and I was very excited that I was finally able to go.
It was winter, so I was worried about the weather, as it started snowing the night before, but before arriving at Linderhof Palace the weather improved. It was a beautiful palace, and the view was just a gorgeous winter scene. The town we stopped at during the tour was also pretty. The main attraction, Neuschwanstein Castle, was beyond my expectations. The guide spoke English, but he was fun and nice, so I don't think there is anything to worry about.
If you are going to Germany I believe this is a must-do tour.
