Although they only serve the guest one type of tea and traditional Japanese sweets per guest, the experience was still memorable. Guests first witness how tea is produced from scratch by the Maiko and this is followed by any traditional dance number. The Maiko's elegance and grace is perfectly showcased. Her business mother is also very adept at explaining basic facts about the Maiko and the Geisha's way of life. The last part of the tea time is an interview with the Maiko wherein guests can ask questions.

Kyoto Maiko or Geisha Makeover Experience with Optional Gion Stroll

投稿者: Luchi Villarica, 2016/04/06Staff don't speak English well however they do make an effort to make you feel comfortable during the makeover session. They know enough phrases to explain the make-up being applied and what to do during the dressing up. The photographer is very good in instructing small movements in order to get the right shot. Clients however don't get to choose the shot to be printed as this is under the discretion of the photographer. All shots can be viewed but clients have to purchase a CD worth 2000yen + tax which I find to be on the pricey side. Overall, the experience still is one of the highlights of my Japan trip.

This was done at short notice and in peak season when other agencies were not able to help. The event itself was very memorable. It would have helped if the person who oversaw activities at the tea house explained what was going to happen and when we would know it would conclude.

Tea Ceremony with Maiko in Gion
投稿者: Rob Lowe, 2016/02/15It has been one of my life ambitions to have a Tea Ceremony with a Geiko/Maiko in Kyoto and it exceeded my expectations in every way.
The booking system with Veltra was simple and easy although it took a few days to get confirmation of the booking from the venue itself.
The directions to the Tea House were perfect (especially required with the nature of the Gion area of Kyoto with so many small back streets) and the greeting by the Okasan of the Gion Tomikiku Ochaya (Tea House) was pleasant and informative and she gave us lots of information all through the time of the visit, in good English.
The Tea Ceremony and Dance by the Maiko (Tomitsuyu) was beautiful and exquisite and we had the chance to speak to her for some time after the formalities were over. Tomitsuyu spoke perfect English and was very patient and honest with all the 'obvious' questions we asked of her, which I am sure she has been asked many times before.
There were plenty of opportunities for pictures and videos during the entire visit, which were in fact encouraged by the Okasan and the whole experience was designed to ensure the customer was happy with the event.
The dedication that Tomitsuyu has and the training required to perform so perfectly is a credit to such a young girl and we were in slight awe of the commitment is takes to take such a path in life.
The whole experience will live with me for the rest of my life and was definitely worth the wait and I would recommend anyone who is interested in this to make it a priority during your visit to Kyoto. You will not regret it.

Authentic and memorable experience
投稿者: Ozfamily, 2016/02/07Our family of three had a wonderful experience with the Maiko - green tea and sweets were served in a traditional tea ceremony, our Maiko performed a beautiful dance, talked with us at our table about her life as a Maiko in Kyoto, and then allowed us to have photographs taken with her both inside and outside the venue. Our 13 y.o. son was fascinated and very impressed with the experience, as were we. Highly recommended!

格安で舞妓さんを独占できました
投稿者: ぷちむ, 2015/11/28外国人の友人と三人で体験しました。祇園会館近くのこじんまりした風情あるお茶屋さんで現地集合・解散です。舞妓さんは祇園東の富多愛さん。お茶屋に入ると見習いの女性（？）に京言葉で案内され、お茶菓子をもてなされます。ほどなく舞妓さんが登場。三人それぞれにお茶をたててくださいました。踊りも一曲披露していただき、歓談タイムでも楽しくお話できました。丁寧で可愛らしい舞妓さんで、外国人の友人はもちろん私も大満足の内容でした。

Incredible service from VELTRA and a wonderful experience I'll never forget
投稿者: Mark Anderson, 2015/11/03I used VELTRA so that my partner and I could experience teatime with a Maiko (trainee Geiko) when we visited Gion, Kyoto. Finding Tomikiku, the actual teahouse, on the street was a little hard (a few pictures of the teahouse itself on the VELTRA site would be helpful), since all the signage is in Japanese, naturally, but once there the actual experience was incredible. The owner of the teahouse was a lovely lady who talked us through the ceremony and explained the history of the Geisha. The Maiko herself, by the name of Tomitsuyu, was elegant and refined, and, once she had come out of formal Maiko deportment, was a delight to talk with. My partner and I left the teahouse feeling we had experienced a bit of old Japan, something few others ever have.
The only thing that marred the experience was that, perhaps through no fault of her own, the owner of the teahouse had double-booked the experience through another operator. She was very sorry and asked if we would mind sharing the experience with the English family who arrived shortly after us. Since it was an experience of a lifetime we didn't feel we could turn them away, so they joined us.
My point in explaining that occurrence is that when I explained this to VELTRA they were incredibly understanding and sorry, refunding us half of the cost of the experience. I've rarely had customer service so good, anywhere, so if you are thinking of using VELTRA, perhaps for the first time, and you're not sure, don't be: this is a company that looks after its customers well. I know, having looked at their other experiences, that I will be using VELTRA again.

京都駅からバスで高雄パークウエイの展望台にて京都市街地等を見たあとは「高雄もみぢ家」にて川床料理をいただき舞妓さんの踊りを鑑賞
１人で参加しましたが、一緒に乗り合わせた方々と和気あいあいで寂しくはありませんでした。
ビールを飲みながら料理を頂き、ほかの方々とお話をして、落ち着いたら舞妓さんの踊りです。
「都をどり」等舞台は見たことはありますが、目の前で見るのは初めてです。
踊りの前に2名の舞妓さんが皆の元に来てそれぞれ2ショット写真に写ってくれます。
なかなかのサービスぶりでした。

あぁ夢体験
投稿者: ぐーちゃん, 2015/09/24最初は随所に歴史が感じられる外見を見て、富菊さんのお店に入ることすら一瞬躊躇させられた。本当に大丈夫かなと不安な気持ちが先行していた。夜の祇園で初めての座敷遊びをするのは、どうしても勇気が必要だった。
しかし、緊張でガチガチだった僕ら高校の同級生男4人組を、愛嬌たっぷりの女将さんと愛らしい舞妓の富津愈さんが柔らかに解きほぐしてくれた。
話せば話すほどに同じ日本にあるのが信じられないような舞芸妓さんの世界に引き込まれていった。酒を飲むにつれて、自然と良い気持ちにしてくれる無邪気だが巧みな話術には素直に驚かされた。
無邪気な姿から一転、真剣な面持ちで艶やかな舞を披露してくれる富津愈さん。
伝統芸能の懐の深さを垣間見た。音楽は残念ながらテープだが、それでも見応えは十分だ。
合間に軽いおつまみが運ばれ、お酒もビールと日本酒をメインに焼酎等結構何でも持ってきてくれた。
そして、お待ちかねお座敷遊びの定番 金毘羅ふねふねで一堂大いに盛り上がり、久方ぶりに楽しい時を過ごすことができた。
そうこうしている内に、90分はあっと言う間に過ぎて、最後は和気あいあい記念撮影をしてお別れとなった。
これだけの内容を比較的お手頃なお値段で体験できて、まさに夢のようだった。これを入門編としてもう一回行きたい、もう少し舞妓さんの世界が知りたいと思わされる内容で大満足だった。

Absolutely spectacular!!
投稿者: Meera , 2015/08/16Not only were we the only two people at the tea house, but we had the maiko and tea house owner all to ourselves to chat with!!!
The maiko herself was so friendly. She performed a tea ceremony with such grace, with an accompanying explanation from the tea house owner. She then performed a small dance (again, an interpretation for the dance was offered by the tea house owner).
We then had time to just talk to the maiko. She was not only obliging to take pictures, but she made a genuine attempt to speak as much English to us. She seemed to enjoy talking about her favorite music, books and activities - she even taught us a few traditional dance moves!
Everyone was very welcoming, and the tea and sweets were delicious! I would recommend this to anyone who is fascinated with maiko and geiko culture, as it's sure to impress every time!

忘れえぬ体験

彼女はもちろん私も初めての体験なので、前日から気もそぞろの状態でした。
当日は、女将の温かなおもてなしを頂戴するなど和やかな雰囲気のもと、お茶屋の歴史などについてお話を頂戴し、徐々に気持ちがほぐれていきました。
そして、富多愛さん（舞妓さん）の点てていただいたお抹茶をいただき、舞を堪能し、更にはお話しもできるなど、本当に価値のある豊かな時間を過ごすことができました。
富多愛さんと彼女と一緒に写した写真は宝物です。また、秋に伺います。

投稿者: 鈴木律, 2015/07/10現地に着いた時、「本当にこの場所なのかな？」と不安になりました。勇気を振り絞ってベルを鳴らすと、とても腰の低い女性が出迎えてくれました。最初色んな興味深い（お茶とか）説明をしてもらい、いざ舞妓さん登場！いやぁ、きれいでした！お茶をたててもらい、その後舞（？）を披露。その後はしばし雑談や「金比羅船々」でお遊び。写真も自由に撮影できましたし、とても有意義な時間を過ごせました。じつは彼女、グーグルでも名前が出る程の有名人でした。いやぁ、楽しかった！！

ひとときの異空間を楽しみました。
投稿者: beate, 2015/07/10祇園のお茶屋さんの二階、華やかさはないものの風情があり、わずかな時間お茶屋文化に触れることができました。
お薄のお点前と舞を披露いただいた後、舞妓さん（富多愛さん）とお話しできました。舞妓さんの生活や風習についてお話は興味深いものでした。気節ごとに着物、帯はもちろんかんざしのモチーフも決まっているそうです(添付写真は７月の団扇）。
便利で快適が優先の世の中で、伝統文化を守っていらしゃる方たちの存在をまじかに見ることができ、貴重な経験をさせていただきました。
お座敷遊びも初体験。楽しかったです。
お座敷でも玄関先でもたくさん写真を撮らせていただきました。
外国の方も喜ばれるでしょうが、むしろ細やかなディティールやバックグラウンドを感じることができる日本人にこそお勧めしたいです。

メイクがすごくお上手で、本当によかったです♡♡
「可愛い雰囲気」か、「綺麗な雰囲気」のどちらが良いか、本人の希望に合わせてメイクをしてくださいました☆眉毛だったり、アイラインで変化をつけるそうです。私は「可愛い雰囲気」のメイクをお願いしました(^^)
着物と、かんざしは、沢山の種類の中から選べて大満足！！！「本当の舞妓さんはどの色の着物をよく着るのか？」などスタッフの方に色々と聞きながら、選びました☆かんざしは、６月の季節の花「あじさい」にしてみました♪
カメラマンの方もとても素敵な方で、緊張でガチガチだった私を楽しいトークで和ませていただきました。自然な雰囲気の表情を撮っていただけました(^-^)お庭での撮影はお部屋とまた雰囲気が変わってオススメです♪
自由散策では、海外の方や、観光客の方々と一緒に写真を撮りましたｗｗｗ凄く恥ずかしかった反面、嬉しかったです！
チェンジングルームは広々としていて、洗顔、シャンプー、化粧水、ドライヤー、タオル、コンタクトの液など何でもあるので、何も持参しなくても大丈夫。
当日に撮影したお写真を、母や祖母に見せたらとても喜んでいました(^_^)/
本当にとても良い思い出となりました！！今度は、海外の友人や他県のお友達と一緒に参加します☆最初から最後まで気持ちよくご対応をしてくださってありがとうございました。

An out-of-this-world experience
投稿者: Hns, 2015/04/13We weren't expecting anything other than a tea session so we were totally caught by surprise when we reached Gion Kaikan and were asked if we would mind being part of a documentary on maikos for Tokyo's TV Asahi! The house mother was incredibly warm and hospitable and the maiko was very beautiful and entertaining. She also indulged our questions and played a little game with each of us at the end. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. It's a privilege to be able to book such experiences given the exclusivity of maikos and geikos. Well worth every cent spent!

Once in a lifetime experience
投稿者: Kamishichiken, 2015/03/13I chose this for a meal with clients, thinking that it would be something different from the everyday.
I was concerned about the claims of actually having dinner with a maiko, but that was blown away as soon as I arrived! There she was, already waiting for our group to arrive.
I also could not believe that she was really only in her late teens. Of course, she cut a cute figure, but more than that, she was extremely skilled at talking with everyone present. I had assumed she would have trouble joining conversations with older adults, but not at all.
It isn't quite right to call this store a restaurant, but it isn't a shop either. It really is a traditional machiya, straight from the past, and a part of Japanese culture. The parlour was quite luxurious, too.
Taking into account how much my clients enjoyed themselves, the value can't be beat, I would say.
If I could come up with a reason to stop by and dine with the maiko of Kamishichikan even once a year, it would be fantastic. I will definitely return!

投稿者: おかちゃん, 2015/03/09 日頃お茶屋さんとは全く縁がない京都の人間１４名でお邪魔しました。
２階のお座敷で待つこと暫し、舞妓さんがしずしずと姿を見せました。その歩く姿、立ち振る舞いの美しさに圧倒されました。まず最初にお茶をたててもらいましたが、やはりその所作には見入るばかりでした。舞妓さんの華やかさと所作の様式美を目にして、気分がどんどん高揚していきます。
「祇園小唄」の舞を見せていただいた後に、フリートークの時間がありましたが、私たちはそれを機に堅さが徐々にほぐれて和やかな時を過ごすことができました。舞妓さんもこの時には、私たちが尋ねる舞妓やお茶屋に関するあらゆる質問に、丁寧にそして笑顔を浮かべながら答えていただき、とても和やかな時間を過ごすことができました。
最後に簡単なお茶屋遊びを教えてもらって、しばらくその遊びに興じました。さすがに舞妓さんはお茶屋遊びのプロ、誰も歯が立ちませんでした。
お茶屋を後にする時には私たちの姿が見えなくなるまで舞妓さんにずっと見送っていただくなど、最後の最後までおもてなしを感じることができました。

そう思って調べるうちに本ツアーに巡り合うことができました。
一般的に、一見さんお断り、費用がかかる、がネックですが本ツアーではそれらを踏まえて
どなたでも受け入れていただけました。
お茶に始まり、踊り、質問タイム、遊び、記念撮影（ツアー中は撮影自由でした。素晴らしい！）
と盛りだくさんの内容でたいへん良い思い出になりました。
富菊のお母さん、富つゆさんこの度のホスピタリティに感謝申し上げます。。
お二人の英語が非常にお上手で、海外のお客さんがより一層喜んでいました。

舞妓さんの舞鑑賞＋お座敷遊び＋京料理のお食事＋町家見学 歓談や写真撮影も楽しめる 登録有形文化財の町家「冨田屋」催行 ＜午後・夕方／上京区＞
東京ではできない体験でした
投稿者: Lucky_World, 2014/12/02仕事関係の接待で先方２名にこちらは３名の計５名で利用させてもらいました。以前こちらの畑中さんで利用させてもらってとてもよかったので、今度は西陣というので、楽しみにしていきました。西陣は織物で有名ですが、こちらの冨田屋さんは代々続く着物問屋だそうです。
さて、食事は、京料理ということで、ひとつひとつがかなりていねいに仕込んであるようで、お味もなかなかでした。外部ではなくこちらで実際につくっていらっしゃるそうで、実際に自分の家でご馳走するのが、おもてなしの原点とのこと。納得しました。
さて、食事もすすみ、舞妓さんの舞がはじまります。ちなみに舞妓さんは時間のちょっと前からしっかり待ってくれていて、これもちょっとした感動でした。１０代後半と思われる舞妓さんはデビューして１年ぐらいのようで、ちょうど成長期をむかえたぐらいの伸び盛りの舞妓さんでした。舞そのものは、さすがに芸妓さんほどの威風堂々さはないものの、みていてほのぼのとするものでした。
１人あたり２万円前後というのは決して安くはないですが、この内容を一見さんお断りの京都で、しかも上七軒の舞妓さんにきていただいてもてなしをしてもらえる、というのは、はっきりいって、破格です。東京でもちょっと贅沢な料亭にいけば、１人あたり１万５千円ぐらいあっという間です。そのことを考えれば、京都の伝統芸能をみて、立派な町屋（かなり立派です、普通の町屋と思っていくと度胆抜かれます）で、このぜいたくな時間をと考えると逆に安いぐらいに感じました。取引先もたいそう喜んでくれて、ダブルでラッキーでした。また利用させてもらいたいと思います。
