Wonderful Japanese experience!

A Gheisha (but they call theirself “Geiko”) danced for us and then made matcha tea for us (it was very good, and they also served us some Japanese sweets). After the tea, the geiko has talked with us about many things (where we came from, what we’ve visited in japan and so on). The whole cerimony lasts 40/50 minute.
I suggest to arrive a few minutes before, because the tea House is non so simple to find. I absolutely recommend this experience because it takes you into the real Japanese world, and you have the opportunity to talk to a real gheisha and know her lifestyle, her education, etc.

Okinawan Ryukyu Kimono Dress Experience in Naha
Perfect way to end my Okinawan trip
投稿者: Sabrina, 2019/04/16Location is not that obscure as I thought. You can either enter via Makishi market or Heiwa dori plaza. Both are connected.
The 2 ladies helping us to dress up were very friendly and good at keeping my 2 yo toddler entertained. The photo taking was done using our phones so all the pictures were ours (no need to haggle to pay for remaining pictures)
We enjoyed the experience very much.

The tea room is rather unassuming but our party of 3 adults had the pleasure of a Spring Dance, tea ceremony and 30 minutes chatting to the Geiko (who spoke excellent English). 着付け中も奄美のオススメフードを教えて頂き、楽しく過ごせました。
撮影後の写真も頂き、自分たちでもゆっくり撮影出来て満足しました。
特に良かったのが帯や帯締めの種類が豊富なのと、髪飾りもレンタル無料だったので、アレンジや好みに合わせて帯を明るくしたり出来る所です！
楽しい思い出になりました。

A MUST DO.
投稿者: Silpa, 2019/04/09We got a real taste of the geisha culture. We got to meet a geisha and a maiko.
We got to talk to them about their culture and lifestyle and also got pictures.
The dance performance was lovely, and the tea ceremony was fascinating. The house mother was very accommodating. Although she always seemed in a rush, a hurry.. she was very sweet and even translated conversations between us and the geisha and gave us a brief insight into their lives.
Overall, it was a memorable experience, we thoroughly enjoyed it even though it seemed a bit rushed.

Kyoto Maiko Makeover and Samurai Dress-up Experience with Optional Stroll Plan
Courteous staff and professional work!
投稿者: Stephen N., 2019/03/25I decided on this studio based on their fair price, high quality, and positive reviews, and I'm glad I did! While my wife was getting dressed as a Geisha, I decided I'd take part in the experience with her and do the Samurai plan. On the way to the dressing room there was a small outdoor area with a very unique looking duck and a good number of impressive looking koi - truly beautiful and relaxing. Upon arrival, the room was very well kept and the material of the clothes were obviously quite high. When we got to the shooting room and they handed me the katana, I was relieved to discover it had proper weight and they did not save on expense with a cheap, fake sword of weak material and poor quality.
For those wanting to try this out, I'd definitely recommend opting into the stroll/outdoor options for some truly fantastic pictures. Also important is timing! If you want to have pictures on your free stroll time with few to no people in the background, go at the earliest appointment available (that's what we preferred), however, if you'd like it to look like a bustling city in that era, an afternoon shoot will have a good crowd of other people from various shops who are also dressing up!

その後は外で写真撮影をしてもらい、自分のカメラでもたくさん撮って頂きました。
その後、自由に自分たちだけで、好きなだけ写真撮影をし、機織りの様子も見学でき、満足でした。
帰りに、写真撮影したものをプリントしてもらいました。
伯母との二人旅に大島紬体験は良い思い出になりました。

Once in a lifetime experience exceeded expectations

We learned so much and enjoyed our time at the Tomikiku tea house.
I would highly recommend. This is one of the highlights of our trip!

Kyoto Maiko or Geisha Makeover Experience with Optional Gion Stroll
A must-do activity in Kyoto especially to experiencing the old Japan.
投稿者: Joob, 2019/02/28We thought the photo shoot would just be normal dressing up, but it is a lot more than that. The studio provided a complete photo shoot including make-up, dress and other accessories. The make-up for Maiko was a lot more fun and let you experience the real Maiko. The studio has all the essential stuff so you don't need to bring anything. They provided make-up remover, cream, oil and even normal make-up for when you clean up the Maiko. I really enjoy the make-up experience and chose my dress. We had about 15 minutes walk outside the studio in the Maiko experience in the Gion district which was very fun. I highly recommend this activity especially for travelers to Japan.
A minor suggestion to make the photo shoot experience more fun would be photographer should interact more with customers to make it more fun and relaxing experience while photo shooting otherwise for foreigners like us might feel a bit tense when posing.

茶道も薄いお抹茶は飲みますが濃い抹茶は初体験でした。
ご来店ありがとうございました！外国人のお客さまが多い教室ですが、日本人の方も来ていただいて、嬉しく思います。
お薄はたくさん体験できる場所がありますが、お濃茶の体験は、珍しいかもしれませんね。

大島紬の軽さに驚きました!!
投稿者: にゃんころ, 2019/02/19奄美大島に来たのは2回目ですが、前回の時は時間がなくて大島紬を着れなかったので、今回はぜひ着たいと思い、予約しました。前々から大島紬いいなぁと思っていたのですが、着てみてその軽さに驚きました。着物は結構好きで、自分でも時々着たりしているのですが、前から大島紬の龍郷柄にあこがれがあり、欲しいなぁと思っていて、でも高いから一度、体験で着て写真を撮れればいい思い出になるかな、と思いました。ところが、実際着てみると、ますます欲しくなり、反物からのお仕立てでは高くて手が出ないので、ネットでいろいろと調べてリサイクル品で体験で着たのとよく似た龍郷柄の大島紬の仕立て上がりの着物をとうとう買ってしまいました。もう手元に届いています。大島紬は正式な場所には着ていけないというけれども、歌舞伎や文楽を見に行ったり、観劇や和のイベントなんかにはちょうどいいので、これからはちょっとしたお出かけに着たいと思います。
