日の出までの1時間半の間は、それはそれは寒いですが、代わりに降ってくるかのような星々も堪能できます。寒さ対策でよかったのは、スキー用のグローブ。それでも指先が凍えるくらいでしたが。
またぜひ、訪れたい場所です。

天然プラネタリウム、御来光、ダウンヒル、どれも最高、ka ʻoi aʻe !!
投稿者: マハロハ, 2023/12/19先ずは、満点の満天プラネタリウム。ハレアカラ山頂までの道程は、日の出＆ダウンヒルに備え仮眠、なんてことはもったいない！ハイテンションのガイド兼ドライバーの話も大切ですが、窓越しの夜空は、宝石箱をひっくり返した星、星、星、時に流れ星！北斗七星、カシオペア、オリオン！オリオンのお腹にこんなに星があるの、と感動！
次に、御来光。心洗われます！雲海が漂うなか、燦々とSUNRISE、ベクトル一致でしょうね。日の出待ちのすべての人が待ちわびた御来光に感動してた瞬間です。北風と太陽じゃないけど、極寒に耐えた後、心身共にホットになります。で、極寒対策ですが、決して肌の露出をされないように！目の周り以外は、ソックス、レッグウォーマー、手袋、マスクと完全防備をオススメします。
最後に、ダウンヒル。私はジェットコースター♪走り出したら止まらないよ♪爽快なサイクリングです。壮大な景観を眺めながら、もちろん安全運転は言うまでもありませんが、ペダルは必要？って感じで、知らず知らずのうちにマウイの風になってます。
ここまでコメントして、星５つでなく、星４つにした理由は以下です。ダウンヒルが、まさしくジェットコースターなんです。僅か10分かな、あっという間なんでよね、ここが少し残念。説明にある昼食後のサイクリングも無かったのが物足りないです。今回、同じコースを２本繰り返したこともありますが、同じジェットコースター２回より、ジェットコースターとバイキング的な異なるアトラクションを望んでしまうので、昼食後のペダルを漕いでも良いので、街並みのサイクリングタイムが欲しかったですね～。

It too bad we had to load the bikes in a trailer and get in the vehicle because we were not allowed to ride through the neighborhood area.
Sunrise was beautiful, bike ride down was fun.
Great experience.

If you can see it the sunrise is awesome
投稿者: Steve712, 2023/03/25Cloud cover prevented us seeing the full sunrise experience. We made the best of it. Our guide was great and had to deal with a lot of passengers. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research on this tour. It is cold. Dress for it. Many on our tour who did not and they were miserable. It is going to be cold. Was 34 degrees with winds gusting to 40MPH. Very cold. Breakfast stop was a cluster and we had to leave most of our food to stick to schedule. Not good.

He explained everything around us. He told us amazing stories. Showed us different plants & lava, he let us take pictures with spectacular views. Breakfast was so tasty & service was more than excellent.

投稿者: azurofj@ymail.com, 2022/08/06At first I was a bit disappointed because we thought they have forgotten about us,only to find out that they were waiting for us in the other hotel roundabout-there was a little misunderstanding with the pick up location. Our hotel and the next door hotel names are almost the same.Other than that,the trip was amazing. At first,it was all covered by clouds and fog but our guide did not give up and tell us to wait a little longer. True enough..while all have left,we stayed to witness the sunrise. It was amazing! Our guide did not disappoint us!
Aloha! Sorry about the confusion on your pick-up. It can get a bit confusing with hotel names. Happy that you enjoyed the majesty of seeing the Sun rise from Mauna Haleakala. Preston is an absolute asset!
投稿者: Angelina23, 2022/04/06Preston has to be the most amazing tour guide I've ever had the privilege of touring with! From being knowledgeable, to witty, he's got it all. He wants to ensure that EVERYONE no matter what season it is layers up, wears clothes toed shoes (toe warmers like the ones used in Tahoe would be the best idea ever!) and BRING A BLANKET! Whatever size you want, fluffy, non fluffy donuts matter. But, this awesome tour guide lets you leave you items safely on the bus so all your have to comfortable carry the very few far steps you actually have to walk, is the blanket and your camera for beautiful views. Keep your positive attitude when waking early, plan ahead with an energy drink or snack to keep you going until you reach to Kula Lodge (TRY THE LOCO MOCO JUST TRUST ME) and you'll be good to go!

Great way to see a beautiful sunrise and cruise down a volcano!!!
投稿者: The Wilsfords, 2021/06/23As part of our 25th anniversary week in Maui we booked this early morning excursion. It certainly did not disappoint. The tour guides were informative and courteous. They took us to the best spot for the sunrise, got a great action shot of us “jumping off” The side of the volcano.
We were given great instructions as to how to get back to the bike shop. We had a nice time leisurely coming down. Stopped at a really nice spot for breakfast then proceeded into the town did some shopping grab a snack at the bakery and got back to the shop in plenty of time.

Beautiful sights with an amazing guide!

He was kind, kept the transportation clean and safe, was a great driver and provided a wealth of knowledge along the way. The kids didn't mind having to wake up so early after seeing the beautiful sunrise.
It was cold at the top but our hotel was thoughtful enough to send us with blankets once they learned where we were heading out to. I would recommend bundling up at the top because it is chilly and you are there for a while.

Exhilarating!
投稿者: Tim, 2020/02/08I went on the self-guided tour. As an experienced cyclist this felt most appropriate. It was as-advertised meaning when they dropped you off you could literally go at your own pace and needed to navigate your way back to the bike shop. I LOVED this part of it. On the drive there the driver went over the turns with us multiple times and even quizzed us to make sure we’d all remember. I even plugged the directions in my phone but didn’t end up needing it. The driver/guide was entertaining telling us stories of the upcountry history and including jokes. Not ‘dad-jokes’ either. This guy was legit funny!!
They do supply you with rain pants and jacket along with a sweatshirt, helmet and gloves. They have all kinds of sizes. It can get really cold at the summit waiting for the sunrise though so suggest bringing your own cold weather layers as well.
I would definitely do this again!

投稿者: 将来輝かしき苦労娘, 2020/01/25初めてのマウイ島、ハレアカラ山頂のサンライズツアーに参加しました。よく分からなかったのがリコンファームが必要と書いてあり、不安ながら参加前日に催行会社へ電話をしましたが・・、あれが良く分かりませんでした。当日、ほぼ時間通りにバスが迎えに来てくれました。私以外すべて外国人でした。席を決められており、そこには日本語のパンフレット、日本語のオーディオガイド(要リクエスト)をご準備いただきました。暗い中を走り、あっという間にハレアカラ山頂へ到着。サンライズまでの待ち時間、風も強く本当に寒いです。だいぶ防寒対策をしてツアーに参加したつもりでしたが、それでも寒かったです。しかしいざ太陽が昇ってくると明るさと温かさを感じ、自然の偉大さを体で感じることができました。景色が本当に素晴らしいです。マウイ島に来ることがあれば、また参加したいです。

貴重な経験でした

以前、ハワイ島でマウナケアのサンセットツアーに参加していたので、今回は是非サンライズを、と思って参加しました。
ハレアカラのサンライズは本当に貴重な体験になりました。
雄大な雲海から昇ってくる太陽はなんとも言い難く。真っ暗で寒さに震えながら太陽を待っていた空間が、太陽によって一気に明るくあたたかく輝いたものに変化していくのは、体験してこそわかるもの。星空も抜群でしたが、移りゆく空の色の美しさはなんとも言えません。
山頂には大勢の観光客が場所とりをして、1時間ほど待っています。
防寒具は必須。私たちは冬用のヒートテックのシャツにダウン、帽子や手袋も準備していましたが、それでもズボンを二枚ばきにすれば良かったと後悔しました。カイロも必須です。寒さに過敏な日本人は特にかも。
ただし、行き帰りは普通にTシャツの軽装の方がよく、バス車内で脱ぎ着ができるように準備しておいた方が良いと思います。バスには荷物を置いておけるので。
残念だったこと。
日本語のオーディオをリクエストしていましたが、結局何もないまま。
英語ガイドしかサンライズはないので覚悟はしていましたが、VERTRAさんのHPには2人に1台貸し出し、とあっていたので少し期待していました。サンライズを観るについては、他の人と同じように動いていれば大丈夫だったのですが、行き帰りのガイドさんの説明など、こちらの英語力の乏しさもあって殆どわからず。残念でした。
朝食はゴルフ場で。自分の好きなメニューを選べます。
こちらの朝食は本当に美味しかったです。
ただ、座席の配分をガイドさんが上手に手配してくれず、私たちだけ2人と1人に分かれて朝食を取りました。日本のような細やかなサービスを求めるのは難しいとはわかっていますが、ガイドさんのもう一手間が欲しかったです。
ハレアカラはサンセットの日本語ツアーも人気です。
英語が得意、夜中の出発もOKの方はサンライズツアーも大いにありかと思いますが、今度、もしマウイに行く機会があればサンセットに参加したいと思います。もしくは、ハレアカラを自分でドライブするのが良いかもしれません。道路については一本道ですので、迷うこともなく。ただし日中に。

綺麗な星空と日の出でした。

お天気も良く日の出もとても綺麗でした。
山頂では風が強く、体感温度はかなり低かったです。ヒートテックにダウン、下は裏起毛のスウェットパンツでしたが寒くて足先の感覚は無くなりました。レッグウォーマーや手袋、毛糸の帽子等の準備はされた方が良いかも。
1人で参加、他に日本人はいませんでしたが、ツアーに参加される方も良い方ばかりで気さくに声をかけていただきました。
おかげで楽しいツアーになりました。

sexy sunrise ！
投稿者: fantastic, 2019/12/29太陽は、肝心なところで雲隠れしてしまいましたが、素晴らしいドライバー兼ガイドのネリさんの言によれば、5パーセント程度での確率でしか見ることの出来ないセクシーサンライズ！を拝むことが出来てラッキーでした。
とにかく、このハレアカラツアーで一人しかいないという女性ドライバーのネリさんは、ガイドはこの上なく上手く、ドライブテクニックも完璧でした。
さて、8月16日のツアーでしたが、とにかく寒くヒートテックのタートルネックにウルトラライトダウンを着込んでも震えが来るような体感温度でした。
耳あて、ホッカイロ、毛布ようなマント？のようなものも備えとしてあれば良かったかと思います。
なお、同乗者はドイツ、アメリカ(サンフランシスコ、シカゴなど)のメンバーでしたが、十分に楽しむことが出来ました。
英語のガイドですが、何となく半分程度は理解出来たと思いますが、特に問題はありませんでしたよ。

投稿者: jqgossard, 2019/12/25As early as the pick up times for this tour, it was worth it!! The experience to watch the sunrise over Maui and right above the clouds of Haleakala was absolutely amazing!! Shuttle ride up the mountain was perfect to take naps before arriving to the summit. Pick a spot along the fence line as soon as you can because it gets crowded very fast!!
Now...all visitors, PLEASE understand that you are a VISITOR into the home of Hawaiian Islanders, RESPECT their boundaries on their land!!! DO NOT hop over fence lines!! There are barriers for a reason!!
1) They are protecting their island plants and animals as they aren’t very many anymore.
2) STAY OFF SACRED LAND!!! They welcomed you into their home, respect the places you are not allowed to enter!!
Don’t be ignorant!! Respect the land you travel!
There were MANY ignorant people that even when the park representatives came out to get people back over the right side of the fence were ignored!
They opened their home and welcomed you so that you can experience an amazing view, enjoy it by appreciating their hospitality and respecting their boundaries.
The natives will chant as the sunrises, it would be nice for everyone to quiet the conversation and bask in the chant and take in this spectacular experience.

残念ながら晴れなかった。でも！
投稿者: ゆきやま, 2019/12/11マウイに行ったら絶対行きたかったハレアカラ山！ご来光はお天気の加減できれいに見えませんでした。でも雲海が素晴らしくてそれもまた神秘的でした。全て英語での説明。一応オーディオガイドもお借りできます。ガイドさんは私たち日本人夫婦をとてもよく気遣ってくださり、たくさん話しかけてくれました。全く英語が話せない主人も楽しんでいました。朝食のパンケーキもとても美味しかったです。次マウイに行く時はご来光がみれますように！

投稿者: つるママ, 2019/12/10早朝？というか夜中のピックアップで少し心配でしたが、予定より早く来てもらい安心しました。英語のツアーなので不安でしたが、温かい対応でほっとしました。また、バスを乗り換え、運転手兼ガイド、Neliが最高でした！！
半分ぐらいしかわからなかったのが残念でしたが、ハワイの大切なこととか（多分・・笑）話してくれるのですが、こちらが引き込まれるような語り方に、ハレアカラの幻想的な自然と相まって不思議な体験ができました。また、日の出の時には、チャントを唱えてくれてそれだけで涙が出そうでした。本当にいいツアーでした。山を下りてからの朝食も、目の前にハレアカラを望みながら、雰囲気のいいところでおいしく頂けました。MAHALO Nui Loa!!

Spectacular Haleakala Sunrise Tour with Park Admission & Breakfast at Mill House
Haleakala was Amazing, Tour Guides Were Awful
投稿者: Jeff, 2019/11/13We selected this trip because we were unable to secure tickets to drive ourselves up to the summit for sunrise. We expected to be picked up early so we weren't surprised by the 2:40am pickup time. We were also prepared for the cold so no problem there. The biggest problem is that from the time we woke up to the time we were eventually released from our hostage situation, our guide did not stop talking. The problem wasn't even the talking - it was the fact that what he was saying was the dumbest minutiae that added no value to the trip, including saying one of the more ridiculous claims that Haleakala (approx. 10k feet high) is taller than Mt. Everest (approx. 29k feet high) because Haleakala has over 20k feet of it's height below the water which makes it over 30k feet. Our guide (as well as another guide from the same company we eventually met up with at the summit) also continually said "Haleakala is the world's second tallest mountain in the world after the mountain on the big island of Hawaii." "The world's second tallest mountain in the world." At that point I was so frustrated listening to these people talk that I was likely to be annoyed by anything but for two people to say "world's tallest in the world" over half a dozen times cut me to the core like fingernails on a chalkboard. Breakfast also offered 3 options with no substitutions at a golf course in the middle of the island. I would have been paying more attention but thankfully I had headphones to try to escape the idiocy being spewed by our guide on the way back down the mountain.
The views from the summit were amazing but the temperatures were frigid and the wind chill probably dropped the overall temperature another 10 degrees so be prepared. I would absolutely recommend the experience of going to the summit but do anything in your power to avoid doing it with this company.
