Mt. Fuji Tour with Lake Ashi Cruise and Ropeway Ride from Shinjuku or Shibuya

Changes in schedule, but overall is good

Reviewed by: Javier see, 2015/10/04

The weather was very bad as the rain kept falling for the whole day so it was unfortunate that we could not go up on the ropeway to see mount fuji. The lake cruise was also replaced with lake kawagochi cruise but despite the changes, the event went quite well. The tour guide tried her best to keep our spirits high during the journey. The instructions from her was clear and concise, such as where to meet and what time to meet were communicated well enough.

We visited the mount fuji heritage center, went up via kachi kachi ropeway and sat on the cruise to see lake kawagochi. The views were scenic and breathtaking. We even managed to spot mount fuji from a distance which totally made our day.

The lunch was normal japanese style. The portion was just nice and it was acceptable.

In terms of the overall trip, there was no major delays, changes in sightseeing places were communicated and replaced promptly abd everything went on fine!

I just hoped to visit it again when the weather is much better!!

  • Look at the cute duck boats! !

  • The majestic mount fuji!

I unfortunately missed redeeming a promotional offer from City Discovery when I booked three Tokyo tours online. I called the toll-free number and spoke with a nice lady, who was very helpful and able to apply the promotional offer to all three tours. This is the first time we have used City Discovery, and are looking forward to the tours. Thank you City Discovery!

Mt. Fuji Tour and Lake Ashi Cruise & Hakone Sightseeing from Shinjuku, Tokyo

Review

Reviewed by: Jade , 2015/09/22

The tour in general was ok but i wont recommend it. Lake ashi was good but the mt.fuji tour and the cable car ride was a total failure and a waste of time. When weather is a big factor to make this tour sucessful, it is so hard to ensure a worthwhile tour.
Not to mention the tour guide was asleep 3/4 of the time. And the lunch was horrible. Just horrible.

Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Lake Ashi Cruise and Hakone Ropeway Ride

Take care before booking, 2 attractions not available due to volcanic activity in the area

Reviewed by: Louise, 2015/08/12

There is very little time on this tour at the actual attractions, we had less than 25 mins at Fuji 5th station the highlight of the tour, less if you include the walk to find the bus afterwards.
Lunch at a hotel takes up valuable time on the tour and the food is definitely not worth the cost, is pre-laid out ready so is therefore cold when we arrived (western menu soup, fries, chicken).
Heavy traffic due to a long public holiday delayed the tour by a couple of hours, of course traffic cannot be predicted but on a public holiday weekend it’s almost a guarantee. The tour should have departed early for example on this particular day to allow time at the attractions.
Due to Volcanic activity for the past few months there are some changes to the tour – we were offered that we could cancel once on the bus at the start of the tour – again this could have been pre-advised via email. There is a clause in the fine print that attractions may change – but again this volcanic activity is a pre-understood change to the schedule. Not something that arose on the day itself. So no Hakone Sky Gondola and no Owakudani Valley stop.
Our guide Hitomi was excellent, very organized and knowledgeable and really made the tour – even with the challenges of time a success.
Tip 1 - I would advise getting yourself to the starting point of the tour, we had 1 hour 15 mins wait from the pick-up point which would have been a quick taxi from our hotel.
Tip 2 – Definitely take the bullet train return taking 2 hours off the travel time.
Tip 3 – Order a la carte from the hotel not pre-set as this will be cold and is very expensive and poor quality.

Whole tour expensive for what you get to see

Great Tour!!

Reviewed by: Abby, 2015/07/28

Thank you Veltra for this enjoyable and great tour! It was a gift for my friend for her birthday and it was definitely the highlight of our trip in Tokyo.

The bus was on time to pick up us up from the hotel. The tour started smoothly all the way to the end. Guide was funny and shared about some Japanese cultures. She also had some jokes that are really funny. It was a perfect day when we were on the 5th station. Sky was blue and you can see the top of the Mt Fuji clearly. It was beautiful.
Lunch at the hotel was pretty good. And yeah we love the pirate boat cruise. Unfortunately, the sky gondola was not available because of the strong winds. We went to the temple instead which was pretty good as well.

Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Lake Ashi Cruise and Hakone Ropeway Ride

A DAY TO REMEMBER

Reviewed by: Diane Wright, 2015/05/19

We were picked up at our hotel by our guide, Hashi and driven to where we boarded our bus for the day. Our first view of Mt Fuji was from the bus, and it was magical, with rivers of snow cascading from the the peak. We were driven to the 5th station, however, by the time we arrived, the peak was obstructed by cloud. From here we proceeded to a lovely hotel where we had a rather strange lunch, cold french fries, hot chicken and lovely crumbed prawn with a very watery miso soup. Following this we were taken to a gondola ride to a thermal region behind Lake Ashi, where the bus met us and took us to Lake Ashi for a cruise in a beautifully designed and decorated replica of a French Galleon. Hashi then explained how we would catch the Bullet Train back to Tokyo, and we were driven to the railway station. Several trains sped through the station whilst we were waiting, which was an experience. Our train ride to Tokyo was very comfortable and an experience not to be missed. We thoroughly enjoyed our day, and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Tokyo.

Thank you Veltra, we had a wonderful day and enjoyed the tour.
The tour was very well paced, not fast and hurried, we arrived at the 5th Station well in formed.

The visit to the Hakone "black eggs" and Sulper Leak was interesting along with the lake cruise, after such a long day the Bullet Train return is a must, back to you hotel as soon as possible.

A wonderful experience, certainly recommended.

Good tour. Big day.

Reviewed by: Debraell, 2015/05/02

This was a good tour. Although we didn't get to view Mt Fuji due to the weather it was still good to go. It's a long day and would suggest taking the bullet train back. Our guide Hashi was knowledgable and helpful. In our opinion we spent too much time at the thermals and the meal we had at the hotel was the worst we had in Japan. But although quite expensive it was a good but not great tour.

A wonderful experience, well worth doing. The guide was very knowledgable and very pleasant . Lunch was fantastic! The snow, an added bonus. Freezing cold at the waterfall, but lovely. Only part I wouldn't recommend is walking up the 200 plus steps to the tomb, no view from the top and the steps were treacherous in the ice and snow.

Fabulous trip

Reviewed by: Aalia Kara, 2015/02/10

This tour is definitely worth it!
We did it in Feb 1st week and it was cold but worth the visit to Hakone and Mt. Fuji.
All the sites were very pretty and luckily we got a clear view of the Mt. Fuji.
Our tour guide was extremely sweet and very patient with all our questions.
The cruise at Lake Ashi was also exhilarating.
The most amazing part was the return by bullet train. The most amazing and fast Shinkasen experience!
Would definitely do this entire tour again in another season to see different scenic views!!!!
Thank you Veltra for this awesome trip!!!!

  • south side view of mt Fuji from hakone.

Kids loved it, the wife - not so much

Reviewed by: zyzzyfix, 2015/01/03

A really exciting, unusual, different thing to do when visiting Mt Fuji. We were meant to do the ice cave which looked pretty sedate but on the day we had to do a 'wind cave' instead. This is more of a proper cave crawl. The kids still talk about it but my wife was intimidated by it. Our guide, Tada, made all the difference though. Funny, engaging and considerate – he was excellent.

Nikko 1-Day Tour from Tokyo with Nikko Toshogu Shrine & Edo Wonderland

Fantastic Day out, audience participation included!

Reviewed by: Marie, 2014/09/21

The Nikko tour element of this trip was very fun, and the long trip there was made enjoyable by our delightful guide Amy (although I still can't get the song she had us sing out of my head). The temple was beautiful and the local environment a delight.
The unguided element at Edo Wonderland was a lot of fun, and one of our group even got dragged on stage to fumble through some scripted Japanese (we still don't know what he said, but the audience found it funny). The place itself had some of the hallmarks of a tourist trap, but these were easily overlooked when charmed by the friendly staff and casual atmosphere.
Don't miss the chance to dress up and have your picture taken!
