Restrictions
- Exchanging to a different type of rail pass will not be accepted once purchased.
- Children aged under (6) years old may board for free but with no seperate seat.
- This pass is limited to non-Japanese passport holders who have a "temporary visitor" visa status.
- This pass cannot be purchased if the period of stay in Japan noted in the passport is shorter than the validity period of the pass.
- Rates are based on the age at the time of booking.
Required items to bring & attire
- Passport
- Please present your valid passport when redeeming your ticket at the claiming booth. Passport copies will not be accepted.
Additional notes
- As the ticket is only valid for the ordinary cars, additional fees will be required for Green Cars, Gran Class, Individual compartment, liners or sleeper trains, limited express and sleeper ticket.
- Each visitor may have one JR east pass (Niigata & Nagano area) at a time while visiting in Japan.
- Guest must wait until the end of the validity period of 14 days of a pass in order to purchase another same type of pass.
- Travelers will be required to send a copy of their passport and information form once their booking is confirmed.
- The JR East Pass (Nagano & Niigata area) is not valid for the Tokaido Shinkansen.
- The JR EAST PASS (Nagano, Niigata area) is not valid between Minami-Otari and Itoigawa on the Oito Line. It is also not valid between Itoigawa and Joetsumyoko on the Hokuriku Shinkansen. When traveling from Itoigawa on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, you must purchase both a basic fare ticket and a Super (Limited) Express Train ticket for travel between Itoigawa and Joetsumyoko.
