初めは１時間で４つも！？絶対無理！と思っていましたが、職人さんの分かりやすいご指導で、流れにのって、きちんと４つ形になりました。
ひとくちに和菓子と言っても、種類も作り方もいろいろで、とても勉強になりました。
素敵な思い出とおみやげが出来ました！

Feel like an accomplished wagashi maker with little effort

We understood very little but it didn't really matter. It was neat to see some of the traditional sweets making tools and make our own sweets. I do feel it ended a little abruptly, but I'm glad we went.

So much fun!

We had such an amazing time! The class was very therapeutic and even though we didn't speak Japanese, the instructor made it easy to follow. We were all able to make beautiful sweets and we shared a lot of laughs and smiles in the process. Note that the sweets are all filled with red bean, so if you're not a fan have someone in mind to give them to. They don't last very long though, so keep that in mind as well! If you don't speak Japanese I'd highly suggest going with friends since you'll be able to communicate with someone and figure the steps out together. This class definitely enhanced my trip to Japan and I highly recommend it!!

何度かきている京都での変わった過ごし方をしたくて申し込んだ。参加者は、私と母の2人きりだったが、職人さんが丁寧に、面白く教えてくれたので、満足感が高く、良い思い出になった。作ったものを持ち帰って食べたが、甘さ控え目で美味しかった。母も喜んでくれた。

何しろ、お店の方全てが、とても親切です。和菓子作りだけで、お店の商品の押し売りなど一切ありませんでした。唯、教えて下さる職人さんが一人だったので、体験者の人数が多い時は最初に教えて貰ったグループは最後に教えて貰うグループが終わるまで待たなければならない・・・という、タイムラグがあります。そういう時は、教えて下さる方の人数を増やして頂けるといいな～と思いました。

1時間ほどで5種類の和菓子を作りました。
しっかりした準備と丁寧な指導で自分なりに綺麗に作れたと思います。
2か月ごとにテーマが変わるようですので、機会を見つけてまた参加したいです。

The Japanese sweets making is a fun experience. We get to experience how the Japanese make this traditional sweets. It's fun to shape the sweets by ourselves. We get to make 3 type of sweets. The tools used are simple and the outcome of it is amazing. It's a nice experience to be able to make and eat the sweets made by ourselves.

We loved the wagashi class, it was very fun to get yo make different types of sweets and the chef was funny and very friendly, we had english papers explaining everything! It was a lovely experience, no matter if you go as a couple, friends or family! We recommend this to anyone who want to have a fun experience and learn something new!

It was a great experience. I followed the workshop with my mother, and there was also one other Japanese couple.
Although the explanation of the workshop itself was in Japanese, the sensei explained everything by hand. We got a piece of paper on which we had the information of the sweets in English (so that we could understand what we were going to make). We made 2 sugary flat sweets and afterwards, we made 3 different Japanese sweets: sakura, autumn leaf and one other (see pictures). When the sweets were made, we got a macha tea so that we could eat the last Japanese sweet we've made. I would definitely recommend this workshop, even if you don't understand Japanese.

日本語での説明ですが、英語のパンフレットも用意されており、またこまめに見廻りに来てくれたおかげで全過程を理解した上で体験を終えることができました。

I was not sure about this activity, but with the instructor's kind assistance, I could complete the all three kinds of sweets. The instruction was given in Japanese with some simple English, but her demonstration was enough. Thank you!

The sample made by the instructor looked so pretty and I wasn't sure whether I could make something similar, but I could complete all three kinds of sweet with surprising perfections! I am sure the gentle and kind instruction did some magic!

I booked this activity just to entertain my foreign friends, but I ended up enjoying it very much myself. The instructor was very cheerful and kind. Also it is nice to have a little souvenir to take home.

京都一人旅の最後に和菓子作りがしたく、参加させていただきました。三十三間堂の近くで豊国神社の前にありました。

不器用な私でしたが、丁寧に教えていただけますし、自分で和菓子が作れたことに感動しました。エプロン、持ち帰り用の箱等全て準備してあり、本当に手ぶらで行けます。一人参加でも気にすることなく楽しめました。

興味はありつつ、今回初めて和菓子作りに挑戦しました。
作った和菓子は４つ、はじめに職人さんが作るそれぞれの和菓子の説明をしくれ、いざ本番。
ひとつひとつ参加しているみんなで足並みを揃えて、進んでいくのでお一人様でも安心でした。
めんぼうや三角形の棒状の道具やそのほかさまざまな道具を使い、いちょうや菊などのかたちに整えていくのはとても苦労しました。参加者は１つ作るのにも時間がかかるなか見本を披露してくれる職人さんは、参加者が１つ作る間に何個も何個も作ってしまうほどでした。
４つ目の作品は、作った後に抹茶と一緒にその場で味見することができました。
あっという間に１時間ほどの時間が経過してしまいました。
参加者は、５割日本人残り５割が海外からでした。海外の人と触れ合ういい機会にもなりました。

参加前は不安も少しありましたが、とても丁寧にご説明くださり、楽しめました。
彼は不器用だから…と、心配しておりましたが、上手に作れました。
お隣は外国の方で、お話もしながら参加出来、とても楽しい時間でした。
お子様でも参加できると思います。

初めての和菓子作り

お店の場所は、少しわかりづらいところにありました。近くに和菓子作りをしている似たようなお店があるのでバスで向かう際は注意が必要です。

エプロンに着替えて、体験スタート。
4種類の和菓子を1時間で作るため、サクサクと進んでいきました。20人くらい参加者がおり、外国人の方が多い為、先生にあまり構ってはもらえません。笑 作り方これで合ってるのかな〜？と疑問を抱きながら作りました。少人数の教室と比較して、一人一人丁寧に教えていただくタイプではな
かったです。
作った和菓子のうち１つはその場でお抹茶と共にいただきました。非常に美味しく、満足な体験時間となりました。

日本人の繊細さが分かる日本文化体験

外国人の友達と息子と行きました。
英語で書かれた和菓子についての説明はもらえましたが、体験自体は英語の対応があるわけではなかったので、外国の友達にはちょっとわかりにくかったかもしれません。しかし、結局はスタッフの人のやることを見て真似する感じなので問題はないと思います。
１時間という体験時間や生もののため、計４つの種類の和菓子作りは１つずつサクサク進んで行きあっという間に終わりました。和菓子のベースは事前に作られたもので、とにかくその和菓子の生地を課題の形に整えていきました。思ったよりも難しく、前後左右３６０度の見た目にこだわる日本人の和菓子作りに外国人の友達は驚きと尊敬の念を表していました。
息子は１０歳ですが、手のひらを使って形を作るものには大人に比べ手が小さいため、難しかったようです。でも、自分で作ったものを食べれてとても満足していました。
和菓子は持ち帰れるのですが、夏は日持ちもしないし防腐剤もないので、その日のうちに食べる必要があり、祖母に持って帰りたいと息子は言いましたが、それは難しかったです。また、旅行中でしたので余計、暑い夏にそれを持ち歩くことが心配でした。

Fun sweets-making class!

It was nice getting to make various traditional Japanese sweets. The instructor did a good job of explaining how to make the various pastries and you are able to make out what you need to do, even if you don't speak Japanese. It would have been fun to make the ingredients from scratch, but then the course would have been much longer, so all the main ingredient were pre-made for us. Our treats came out pretty good, but the only downside is that you have to eat then by the end of the following day, but ours made it another day in the fridge.

講師１人に9人の生徒で、説明がいまいち。
中国人に気をとられ、よくなおしてましたが、私達は、なんだか別の形でしたが、フォローはありませんでした。

姪と母の3人で参加しました。お干菓子1種と上生菓子3つを作りました。写真入りのちらしが用意されていて、本当にこんなすごいものができるか不安でしたが、なんとかかなり不格好なお菓子ができました。講師の職人さんが実際に作りながら教えてくれます。上生菓子2つは箱に入れ 持ち帰ります。1つはお抹茶（お薄）で頂きました。とてもよい経験になりました。

母と2人で、和菓子作りに挑戦！！

旅行の思い出に、和菓子作りに挑戦してみました。
全部で4つ作れます。
1つ目は、簡単！生地を伸ばしてからの型抜き。
2つ目以降は、ちょっとずつ難易度が上がっていきます。
不器用な私は、先生にちょっと手伝ってもらっちゃいました！
母からは、「手伝ってもらえて、ズルい！」と言われたので、「出来ないのだから、仕方ない ！！」 と言いました。
事実を伝えたので、その後は何も言ってきませんでした(笑)
先生のおかげもあり、無事に3品完成しました。
思う通りにいかず、職人の方は本当にスゴイのだと、
改めて実感しました。
日常、経験できない和菓子作りができ、楽しかったです。
機会があれば、また挑戦したいです！！

最後にお店の場所ですが、地図の通りです。
最寄り駅からわりと近いですが、正直、道があってるのかどうか、不安になりました。
目印少ないので、不安になるかもですが、大丈夫です。
曲がる角さえ間違えなければ、あとは真っ直く歩けば、
道が開け、左手側にお店が見えますから！

季節の和菓子作り

京都の思い出作りとして友人と参加し、紅葉の干菓子や山茶花の上生菓子などを作りました。
職人さんが各グループ毎にお手本を見せて下さいますが、見るのと実際やるのでは大違い…。意外と難しかったです。でも自分たちで作った和菓子とお抹茶は最高で、とても楽しい体験ができました。残りの和菓子をお土産として持って帰れるのも嬉しかったです。季節ごとに作るモチーフが変わるので、機会があれば別の季節にまた参加したいなと思いました。
