お茶席は芸妓さんのお点前が間近で見られてよかったです。一人だったのでたまたま一番前の席に案内されて、よーく見ることができました。
舞踊劇は真夏の夜の夢を題材にしたものでユーモアもあり、衣装も踊りもきれいで、楽しいだしものでした。いい意味でこじんまりした会場で舞台と客席が近くて芸妓さん達も間近で見ることができて、大満足でした。

まず情報提供として大切なのが、ツアー主催者の対応でした。素晴らしい！希望の予約が無理であるという連絡を受け、別の時間帯体験をご提案していただきました。しかしそのご提案の体験は新幹線発車ギリギリ。そのような中で出来るだけ観光客に楽しんでもらうには・・・という事を前提として色々とご相談、決められた中での最良プラン提案をしていただきました。素晴らしいご対応でした。
体験ですが、途中中座せざるを得ませんでしたが、それまで「舞妓さんの舞、お点前」はしっかりと堪能でき、京都へ来て京都らしい雰囲気をわずかでも堪能できる気軽＆安価なプランです。よい思い出となりました！めちゃくちゃお勧めです
出来れば「特別席（追加料金￥200/人 ※席数に限りあり）」で体験してください。最前列で舞妓さんの舞を見ることができます！！

受付でベルトラのバウチャーを提示し、支払済を申告したにもかかわらず、受付されず、たらいまわしされた。あげく、地下の事務室まで自身でおりて確認しろとの、最低な対応をうけた。
結局は無事入場できた（当然）が、きちんと予約支払いしているのに、大変不愉快だった。
をどり自体は十分価値のある内容でした。

内容的には期待通りで良かったです。 ¥200を追加すると特別席に座ることができるとのことでVertraにお願いしましたが担当の方が把握しておらず、当日は家族4にんがバラバラの席に座ることに。特別席は一席だけ残っていたので購入しました。出来れば一緒に座りたかったです。残念。

Maiko Entertainment in Kyoto with Dance Performance and Dinner
Show itself is okay but a lot of let downs

Positives:
-Maiko was beautiful, dance worth watching, dinner set very good
Negatives:
-pick-up not really door to door only in main hotels
-we called in at 5:20pm that we were running late due to traffic for a 5:30pick up time, our cab driver sped and by the time arrived at the pick up place around 5:35pm my husband was still on the phone, and the lady assured him the group is still there.
-We told her we cant find anyone but she insisted they are still there in the pick up place, and she told my husband to ask everyone in the hotel lobby if anyone was going for the maiko dinner.
-my husband told her we could not find anyone part of the group and we were standing right at the banner of Sunrise Tours but she said she cant help anymore we have to keep asking people!
-we called again after 5mins and spoke to a guy who told us the group has already left and we have to make our way to the actual place for maiko show ourselves with a taxi
We acknowledge and admit that we were late. But we rang 10mins before the actual pick up time they could have told us to head straight to the actual place of the Maiko show or they could have asked the tour person on the pick up place to also make an effort to “be easily found”. For them to tell us to just ask everyone in the hotel lobby if any of them are going to maiko show was very very annoying and stressful. We arrived at the show with very negative emotions already sat at the back most area and we couldnt manage to enjoy it that much anymore.

My husband and I really enjoyed our time. Mika, our host, was delightful and a wonderful translator for the Maiko who joined us that night, Fukune. Together they graciously answered all of our questions and made it a very enjoyable experience. When we booked this, we didn't realize we would be in a private room, but that ended up being nice as we had space to have conversations that we may not have otherwise had if we were in a larger group. The kaiseki meal was good though we'd had more interesting kaiseki dishes at another restaurant the day before. It was also a little hard to enjoy the intricate meal when we were in conversation the entire night (the downside to the private room).

席が舞妓さんを取り囲むようなら皆が最前列で見やすいが、ここは1列５人で３列というぎゅうぎゅう詰だった。さらに最前列は追加２００円。
また、お手前は舞妓さんをお手本に自分で点てる、舞妓さんとの遊びは２人だけ、ということを理解して臨みましょう。そう思うとちょっと高いかなぁ。

Highly recommended. We were warmly welcomed and it was really fun having dinner with Maiko. We were able to watch her beautiful dance, play games with her, and ask her any questions if you want to know. I had a fantastic night. The Kaiseki traditional Japanese food was delicious. Whole program was well organised. Two Japanese Interpreters spoke good English. I can’t wait to go again.

舞妓さん可愛かったです！

この日の参加者は12～15人ほどで、海外の方や舞妓ファンの方が中心でした。
舞妓さんは宮川町から千賀明(ちかさや)さんという可愛らしい方で、お話をされるときは参加者ひとりひとりと目を合わせながら丁寧にお答えされてました。
お手前体験では、まず千賀明さんが抹茶をたて、それを係りの人が参加者に説明するかんじ。茶道特有の堅苦しい雰囲気は一切なく、みなさん泡がたたない～と言いながらワイワイ抹茶をたててました。
お茶屋あそびの体験もあり、これは希望者(２名ほど)が前で千賀明さんと金比羅ふねふねというお茶屋遊びをされました。舞妓さんが盛り上げ上手なので、どうやっても楽しくなりました(笑)
１時間の体験でしたが、盛り上げ上手な千賀明さんのおかげでとても楽しい時間になりました。ぜひまた京都へ行くことがあれば参加したいです！

This package had it all; meet a real maiko in person, enjoyed the traditional Maiko dance, have a conversation and played games with one, and even took pictures with one! It was a superb and welcoming experience! Really enjoyed the food and entertainment. Would most definitely recommend my friends if they want to have similar experience! Would suggest the restaurant to have a vegetarian menu for my vegan friends.

Going into this experience, I had no clue what a Maiko was and just thought it would a show with someone that just dresses up like a Geisha. This experience taught me a lot about the whole Geisha/Maiko profession and has made me more interested in older Japanese culture. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and the Maiko was gorgeous and great to hang out with.

Fun and Educational Evening

We had an amazing time. We signed up for this with some hesitation about how fun it would be. Well, it sure delivered a lot of fun and some cool opportunities to learn. The meal was large and provided many, many courses of Japanese food. The entire time we were there we were able to enjoy unlimited drinks. We also appreciated that we were able to regularly interact with an English-speaking person who lived in Japan. We were able to talk to several of the staff who were working that evening, who spent time visiting with the customers and sharing their experiences living in Japan. In total there were about 18 people attending this event. We learned a lot and enjoyed the individual time we had with the Maiko and the group activities too. We highly recommend it and this Veltra package was well worth it. We absolutely would do this again! Very, very satisfied!

Amazing experience with a Maiko !

My girlfriend and I went to this dinner during our trip to Kyoto, and honestly it was the highlight of the trip.
First of all, we were late by 30 minutes (which is very rude). But the staff was still super friendly and lovely.
About the Maiko:
When we arrived the staff were describing what the Maiko was wearing. They also explain how she became a Maiko, and her daily life as one.
Then she went to every single table and we were able to spend about 10 minutes with her to chat and ask any question (a translator were translating from English to Japanese).
After she visited each table, she show us a traditional dance. We then played some simple game with her, it was so fun ! Everybody played with her at least once.
About the food:
I see a lot of bad review about the food. It's traditional Japanese food and it was DELICIOUS ! You're in Kyoto, open your mind and try everything. I think we had about 5 different dish set like small appetizer, soup, sushi, tempura... there is nothing in there that I didn't like or was not cook properly.
Also, it's open bar ! We had hot sake, wine and beer.
About the place:
The place is beautiful, it's a traditional Japanese restaurant (small table & sitting on the floor).
If I remember correctly there was about 12 people in the room (us included). So anywhere you sit you will be close enough to the Maiko to catch everything.
About the staff:
They are so lovely! They were always making sure we had everything to be comfortable. They even sat down with us for a little chat together.

Ok, but could be better

An experience of meeting Maico is definitely rewarding. However, the quality of service, dinner, and overall organization are very mediocre. The only professional service was provided by the interpreter. Her English was very good as well as posture and ability to communicate. The place looks very shabby, food is not of high quality, especially taking into a consideration the price. I would not recommend this place. Try to find a different venue.

My partner and I had a great experienc! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made everyone effort to ensure you were comfortable and that all your needs were being met. The food, Maiko performance, games, conversation and photos were well worth it and we had an incredible time. Quintessential Kyoto

My girlfriend and myself recently travelled to Japan from Melbourne, Australia. Prior to coming to Kyoto, we had already toured Tokyo, Hiroshima and Osaka, with a few interesting day trips along the way.
Compared to other major cities in Japan, we have found Kyoto to be a lot more traditional to old Japanese culture. The geisha or geiko as they’re known in Kyoto, are hugely iconic to us when we think of Japanese culture, and especially Kyoto culture. So meeting one was a must!
We had a great experience being entertained by a maiko (a geiko in training). There was traditional Japanese dancing, new and really funny drinking games and fascinating conversation about her beauty routine, social life and aspirations. It was a rare privilege to meet her. She was very polite, held herself well, and will make a great geiko one day.
The food was interesting, traditional Kyoto cuisine, and the sake (or any drink for that matter) was bottomless, much to my pleasure. I had cold sake and my girlfriend had warm sake.
All in all, we are glad to have this organised this experience and would recommend it. You do not want to travel to Kyoto and not see a “geisha” in the flesh.

Fantastic Maiko experience

It was a truly great cultural experience to come face to face with a maiko and soon to be geiko. Watching her perform live and in close proximity make us feel special.
It was a remarkable experience to also be able to chat with her and immerse ourselves into this japanese culture by understanding her motivations and training to be where she wants to be. Becoming a geiko is indeed not a hobby but a life accomplishment. We also have the great opportunity to play fun entertaining games with the maiko.
I highly recommend this activity and not just for the performance. The food and unlimited sake/beer in itself was simply amazing too!

What an amazing experience! The tea house where the maiko performance is located is in the heart of Gion. It was the perfect location as we were able to walk around this quaint area of Kyoto and explore the city right after dinner.
The staff present that night were so accommodating and fun! Everyone spoke English and there was a translator present when the maiko came to your table to chat with you. We asked her questions such as how she became a maiko, how she sleeps with her hair up, her daily routines as a geisha, and so forth.
With each response we grew more curious about this mysterious Japanese human doll that sat in front of us. The staff never once rushed us during this question and answer session, and the maiko was so sweet for allowing us to take an unlimited amount of pictures with her. The staff members were so kind to jump in and be our photographers that night to truly capture this special moment in time.
We also had a chance to play traditional drinking games with the geisha and it was a fun way to interact and laugh with other travelers that came that night to experience a piece of Japanese culture. We also appreciated that there was only a small amount of other travelers present in the room (around 15 people that night including ourselves) so we never once felt left out at anytime during that night.
The food served was surprisingly tasty and drinks were refilled constantly. Not bad for a tourist based activity!
With the beautiful and authentic okaiya where the performance takes place, the location, and presence of English speaking staff, I would definitely recommend this travel experience to anyone that wants to meet a real life geisha in person!

Before coming to Kyoto we had wanted to meet a Geisha (or Maiko in Kyoto) but did not know what to expect. On this trip we got to meet a Maiko with a small group of other people while we dining.
The food and drinks were amazing but the experience of meeting Maiko and watching her dance was truley magical! We even got to play traditional party games and have lots of fun with her.
Our hosts were also incredible, explaining everything in great detail and translating between English and Japanese for Maiko.
Definitely recommend this event. This was perfect for us as we wanted to experience this in a small group rather than a private event as I think it was a great atmosphere.
