Glass Making and Engraving Craft Experience in Otaru

Awful experience. Big regrets!

Reviewed by: Toothdoc, 2019/08/10

Although we were at the location at the scheduled time, staff ignored us. When we finally asked if the class was going to be held (since it was only the two of us there), we were told that the sandblasting equipment must be prepared and it would take a week. Since we were not going to be in Japan for a week and since the staff seemed reluctant to even explain to us how to do the project, we decided not to participate. To add insult to injury, Veltra refused to refund our fee saying that their web description says that products not available for pickup will be shipped but only in Japan. Our friend signed up for sandblasting with another vendor (Craft Shop Ren) and she came home with her project the same day. We should have signed up with Craft Shop Ren instead of this one.

Glass Making and Engraving Craft Experience in Otaru

Very disappointing.

Reviewed by: Toothdoc, 2019/08/02

Instructions: 1. choose your glass (straight tumbler, mug with handle, tumbler with pedestal base), 2. Draw your own design on piece of paper or on glass or you can route directly on the glass. 3. Tape your paper to inside of cup. 4. Use battery-operated handpiece with assorted rotating diamond tips to roughen/etch surface of glass. That was it. No other instructions or supervision or even checking on us to see how we were doing or if we were done. When we finally decided that no one was checking on our progress, we had to go up to the lone cashier/staff then she came and boxed up our glasses to take with us.

Glassblowing Experience in Kitahiroshima

A unique experience!

Reviewed by: Warnercrew, 2019/02/16

Wow, everyone in our family enjoyed this experience! Mr Nobuhiko Hoshi and the Veltra staff were very helpful as I changed the booking twice. Mr Nobuhiko was very patient and knowlegeable. It was amazing to see the steps in making a glass/vase and to see our creations forming, and even more amazing to find the parcel containing our glassware waiting for us in Australia on our return! I highly recommend this activity.

Glass Wind Chime Blowing Experience in Kitahiroshima

A great mentoring session with a professional

Reviewed by: Ng Chee Keong, 2016/05/04

Thumbs up for the informative and hands-on approach. I have learnt so much about glass - blowing with a teacher who is patient in sharing. Despite a communication barrier, the teacher does his best in answering questions and clearing doubts.

As a bonus, he has provided a free ride back to the station. Once again, thanks a lot! Arigato!!
