Mt. Fuji Tour from Shinjuku with Shiraito Falls, Oshino Hakkai & Sengen Shrine

Great day out

Reviewed by: Hayley Buckley , 2019/11/13

We really enjoyed out tour. Our guide Yuki was very informative and a really nice person. We were lucky enough to see Mount Fuji before it hid behind the clouds. We were unable to go to the 5th station due to snow and icy roads, so we went to the world heritage centre instead. Yuki pointed out various interesting places throughout the day. Shiraito Falls were amazing to see, as was Oshino Hakkai and the shrine. The weather wasn't always on our side but it didn't ruin the day in the slightest. If you're staying in Tokyo it's a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city scene.

Fuji Kawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Tour from Tokyo with Shosenkyo Ropeway Ride

One great day with Mt. Fuji

Reviewed by: VDB, 2019/11/13

It turned out to be a full beautiful day with Fuji-san.
The day started early and we got the first glimpse of Mt. Fuji very early on the highway.
The tour guide spoke very good English and was entertaining. Her positive attitude of being lucky in viewing Fuji-san came alive as we had the view throughout the route, at the ropeway and right in front of us at lake kawaguchi.
The maple corridor was not fully ready but the trees on the way had the yellow and the red leaves welcoming us. It was breathtaking.
The food (vegetarian) was Oishi and very well served.
But for a traffic jam on the highway ( which had nothing to do with the trip) all went wonderfully well. Even during the Jam, the guide (Kaori Hiramoto) kept briefing us of history of Tokyo and Japan, taught us Japanese and was very lively.

Highly recommended ....

Fantastic views of Mt Fujiyama

Reviewed by: Greg, 2019/11/12

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect Mt Fujiyama to look this good. Only 15 minutes into our bus trip and we saw Mt Fuji in the distance. Because it was a Sunday we had a slow bus trip but our guide kept us entertained with information and had a lovely sense of humour.
The Japanese lunch provided was very good and the cable car ride to a good viewing spot was fun.
The view from the Lake was superb with the autumn colours framing photos. Not one cloud covering the mountain. An interesting market was taking place with lots of food and craft stalls.
A slow bus trip back to Tokyo due to heavy traffic but all-in-all a great day.

Private Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Arakura Sengen Shrine & Fuji Five Lakes

Fujitastic!

Reviewed by: DazzS, 2019/11/09

We had a wonderful day out with our driver, Tuk and our local guide, Yuko. We saw a quick film of Fuji and the information centre then went to fifth station to visit the shrine and to admire a closer view of Mount Fuji and the surrounding areas. We then visited a local restaurant for delicious noodles and sake. We then continued to Arakurayama Sengen Park to take photos of Mount Fuji with the Pagoda and continued to enjoy the local markets and stalls and the Autumn Leaves Festival at Kawaguchiko. We were able to take phots of Mount Fuji from a variety of different locations and our day was well paced as we have young children (3, 6 and 11 years).
Our day was pleasant as our guide and driver were very knowledgeable, polite, friendly and accommodated our preferences. Highly recommend this tour if you like your own space and you’re travelling in a small group.

Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Lake Kawaguchi, Oshino Hakkai & Ninja Village

Great way to visit Mt Fuji from Tokyo

Reviewed by: Rob Thompson, 2019/11/07

Overall this was a well run bus tour with our pickup from Shinjuku. Very comfortable bus departed around 9am and drove around 2 hrs before first activity of the day. While some of the stops felt a bit rushed, the upside is not only going half way up Mt Fuji to 5th station, but also including a few other fun activities. We were fortunate to have a clear day with just a bit of cloud, and got a great view & photos of Mt Fuji peak, which is not always possible due to weather conditions. Oshino Hakkai & Ninja Village were pretty & interesting, and the lunch was an exceptional buffet, far better than I expected and absolutely worth the small extra charge. The Fuji 4D simulator ride at the theme park was unexpected and good fun. Personally I felt that the extra time required for the Lake Kawaguchi stop was not worth the effort, too quick and really just another pretty lake for a quick photo. I would recommend a separate trip to Lake Hakone area for this purpose.
Guide Guilia was very enthusiastic and informative, and while the trip was conducted in English, I noted that she spoke several other languages fluently.
The only issue I had with the day I chose, was that it was a public holiday, and the easy 2 hr morning trip took over 4 hrs on the return because of very heavy traffic. In fairness while this was totally beyond control of the tour company and I offer no blame at all to them, they actually managed to minimise a bad situation as the bus driver skilfully negotiated B roads back to Shinjuku and by avoiding the expressway likely achieved the 4 hr return instead of a 5-6 hr disaster. I would not recommend doing this day trip on a public holiday, but I would not hesitate to otherwise recommend this tour to friends travelling to Tokyo in the future.

Mt. Fuji Tour from Tokyo with Lake Ashi Cruise and Hakone Ropeway Ride

Started well but deteriorated into boredom then chaos.

Reviewed by: Wayne, 2019/11/07

Pick up was efficient but the time was an hour later than that advertised in the literature, Mount Fuji was great, lunch was fine then it rapidly deteriorated. The post lunch itinerary was changed due to volcanic activity at the advertised ropeway. The lake cruise was forgettable, it was overcast and wind, it was very poorly supervised by the guide who gave garbled instructions that we couldn’t understand The ropeway was left to last by which time it was getting dark and the wind was getting up so we gave it a miss and poodles around for an hour in the souvenir stalls.

The return was chaotic we wasted ages dropping off people returning to Tokyo by train then it was a crawl even though the congestion wasn’t bad. It took more than 3 hours to cover the 70 km from the ropeway to our hotel

Ami is such a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, we loved the way she taught us how to make a small origami and I like her poems too. Great Tour, fully enjoyed ourselves!

Reviewed by: Marcus, 2019/10/22

Brought mom on this tour today! It was her first time in Tokyo, and I was quite worried how the tour would turn out given the weather forecast (rain!) and the reported closures of certain attractions caused by the recent typhoon. As it turned out, our worries were unfounded! While it was indeed raining as we were boarding the bus this morning, the weather started to clear as we head closer to Mt Fuji. The tour agency also made very good arrangements for us to have a great time. Coupled with the enthusiastic tour guide Jane, I would say our whole bus-load of people truly had an unforgettable day out! And guess what we found at Mt.Fuji? None other than Mt.Fuji!! I know this may not make sense, but you'd be surprised how many people went to Mt Fuji without seeing it...mainly due to weather issues. Well, we thought we wouldn't be able to catch it, but we did...snow-capped no less!

Really appreciate the quality of the tour, the seamless arrangements from one destination to another, and the professionalism show by the tour guide, and our bus driver. Couldn't have asked for more. Thumbs up!

Mt. Fuji 2-Day English-Guided Climbing Tour from Tokyo or Fuji 5th Station

Nice people. very knowledgable. Our tour didn't make it to the top because of bad weather (but we bailed and went up anyways)

Reviewed by: roxayne, 2019/10/11

Overall they take very good care of you. Make sure you bring a lot of 100 and 500 yen coins with you on the mountain to use the restrooms and buy snacks. bring snacks. We had a day of bad weather so our tour group actually didn't go higher up than 7th station. BUT we signed a waiver and were able to go up ourselves and bring back the rental gear on our own at the end of the day. Since we missed the bus for the tour because we left, we had to get our own bus back to Tokyo, but that was only like $60 bucks total. Definitely definitely definitely get the rental gear. it is so helpful. We are young and fit-ish and it took us 6 hours to go up (with a 15 hour break at 7th station) and 3 hours to come down. not too bad. i think with the entire group it would have taken a lot longer. the last hour was the hardest because of the thin air. Nowhere in the entire itenerary of the tour does it say this, but going to Fuji-Q Highlands amusement park is on the docket. That would have been fun, had we already gone up to the top and back, but since the tour bailed early, we decided we came to climb and that was what we were going to do. sooooo worth it. it was an amazing view and our favorite part of our whole trip to Japan.

Carefully check the tour details!

Reviewed by: Nili, 2019/10/11

Overall we had a beautiful day with excellent weather that made it possible for us to see Fuji.
I gave this tour only 3 stars because:
1. When I book the tour, they advertised false picture of the Pagoda and Fuji in the background view, and added details about this stopping point that made me think I will get there and that was the main reason I booked this tour. In reality, the point was just another shrine, not something special with almost no view of Fuji to take pictures of.
2. The tour was suppose to end 18:30-19:30 according to the itinerary, in reality, we ended at 15:00 and it felt like we were rushing to get to the next stop, and came back to Tokyo at 17:30. So 1 hour less in the Fuji area...
This is not what I was paid for. When I wrote Veltra about their false advertisment, they just told me they took off the wrong pictures, but gave no compensation at all.
Also- our guide was from Japanican- so I wonder why even bother ordering from Veltra if it cost a bit less ordering from Japanican if we got their guided tour anyway?
My suggestion, if you really want to see the entire Fuji mountain- take a different tour in the lakes area, because we only saw half of it every stop. And each stop was super crowded.

Mt fuji Day tour

Reviewed by: Samica, 2019/09/26

My wife and I had an awesome time with this tour. Its a beautiful day in September which I thought it would be raining but it ended up that we see a glimpse of Mt fuji, sunny and warm though clouds covers this mystical mountain most of the time. Better for you to bring jacket in 5th station as it gets very chilly, walk through the side of the building where there are benches good for photoshoots, away from most of the tourist. We head down for noodle soup afterwards, perfect timing to ease my cold body. We also had fun in grape picking as it was our first time, truly memorable. Berry grape was really sweet and jelly in texture, we had constant reminder to pick only what we can eat. There are lot of shops for souvenir which was great! Our Japanese English tour guide was very informative and helpful. I recommend this tour package If you want to have well organize and a quick escape from tokyo.

Mt Fuji 2-Day Climbing Tour from Shinjuku Station with Optional Crater Tour

Good for slow hikers, but communication was lacking

Reviewed by: Erin, 2019/08/29

The trip was very well organized, however communication was lacking at multiple points in the hike. Firstly we were not told the name of the mountain hut we were stopping at or the elevation - which was important as it was the highest mountain hut and having a can of oxygen to help with the overnight altitude sickness would have been very helpful. Secondly, although some hikers were clearly ready and able to go at a faster pace than the very slow crawl of the main group, we were required to stay with the main group. This became problematic because the faster hikers could have easily summitted and returned to the mountain hut the first day, but due to the slow pace, the entire group was unable to summit the next morning because of bad weather. The guide also failed to warn the group that we would likely not be able to summit the next day until just before we went to sleep the night of the first day. Lastly, although the guide did allow faster hikers to go ahead of the slower hikers on the way down the mountain, they failed to say what time the group would be meeting to get on the bus to the onsen. I ended up having to wait over 3 hours at the 5th station before the bus departed. Although the guide was very helpful and attentive to the weaker hikers, I’d say if you are in good physical shape, it may be better to hike on your own. Being in this tour was limiting and prevented me from summitting when I otherwise could have which was very disappointing. But for weak or beginner hikers, this tour is ideal. The equipment rental and the onsen after the hike were excellent.

Mt. Fuji 2-Day English-Guided Climbing Tour from Tokyo or Fuji 5th Station

Meant for beginners

Reviewed by: John Rambo, 2019/08/29

Let me be clear, the guides from this tour are great. However, there were 38 people in my group, which is insane. Next, the pace that the tour guides force everybody to walk at is slower than a turtle. I completely understand they are trying to accommodate the slowest and least fit hikers, but this was super frustrating. It took us 6 hours to get from 5th station to 8th station. We stopped every 20 minutes for breaks. During our sleep over in the hut at 8th station, everyone was literally given a space to sleep in that was 2 feet wide (about 60 cm). This was awkward and impossible. Finally, my group never got to summit the mountain because there was poor weather the morning of our summit. Other independent hikers were summiting, however, we likely didn’t because our guides were concerned about the inexperienced hikers in our group.....I mean, one guy was actually hiking in skinny black denim jeans!!! In conclusion, I could have summited and descended back to 5th station in around 7 hours. This group reaches only 8th station in 6 hours. If you are a meditate level hiker or better, just do this hike independently.
